Designed as part of The Cooper Union's Principles of Type Design course, BC Hitch is a typeface with a lot of love behind it. The inspiration behind the font was a cat I used to live with named Hitch. Hitch was missing an eye, and was a feisty character all around. In early sketches, I drew letters that were expressive, taking liberties with each glyph. Although some of those quirks were ultimately left on the cutting room floor, the final result is a typeface that is warm in title case but regal in uppercase—reflecting the duel nature of cats all around the world.
